LENOVO Ideapad 310 Review

I just purchased this Lenovo  Ideapad 310 for $450 and so far so good. I use it for word processing and maintaining my Wordpress website. Fast and reliable laptop.

I got this laptop on sale for $450. It was worth every penny!

PROS:

-Speed: The processor plus the 12 GB of DDR4 RAM makes for a very smooth machine.

LENOVO IDEAPAD 310 -
PROS:

I got this laptop on sale for $450. It was worth every penny!

PROS:

-Speed: The processor plus the 12 GB of DDR4 RAM makes for a very smooth machine.

-HD Graphics: Something that is not mentioned is the *6GB* AMD Raedon graphics chipset. Yes, it is a laptop and is not desktop grade, but it makes a difference.

-Great sound: I was actually surprised at the crisp sound. Laptops generally fall short in this department.

-Size: It is not overly large or thick, but the monitor is the perfect size.

CONS:

-Heat: It can get a little hot. It hasn't been too much of an issue, but I'm sure that further down the road, it will be a problem that will need to be addressed.

-Noisy: It's not a very quiet laptop, which honestly is to be expected from something with so much power.

-Windows 10: Okay. This is likely not an issue for some people, but I absolutely detest Windows's new operating system. It's something I'll have to grit my teeth and get over, as it's the new standard. Better than Windows 8, but still not Windows 7.

It is worth every penny. I recommend this machine.

Echo Dot - Save $20 on 3

Echo Dot is a hands-free, voice-controlled device with a small built-in speaker—it can also connect to your speakers or headphones over Bluetooth or through a 3.5 mm audio cable to deliver stereo sound to the speakers you choose. Dot connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more—instantly.
Echo Dot can hear you from across the room, even while music is playing. When you want to use Echo Dot, just say the wake word “Alexa” and Dot responds instantly. If you have more than one Echo or Echo Dot, Alexa responds intelligently from the Echo you're closest to with ESP (Echo Spatial Perception). Learn more about ESP

Echo Dot is great for people with mobility issues. Paraplegic or bed ridden.

Drummer's Dream iPad or Tablet Mount

ChargerCity Drum Stand Rim Lock on Clip Mount for w/Apple iPad Air Mini Pro (9.7) Samsung Galaxy Tab LG G Pad HD HDX Microsoft Surface Google Nexus Tablets.

At $29.95 this is a great deal! I've recently begun to use a metronome with my band to keep the boys in check. I bought a cheapo mount for my iPhone and mounted to my hi hat stand. Lo and behold it broke after 2 gigs! I also have a lot of information programmed into my iPad, pre-programmed loops for certain songs, etc. Leaving my iPad on the stage floor isn't safe. This Charger City holder mounts directly onto your  drum rim and is a sturdy well constructed holder.

Works great and is easily adjustable for height and rotation. If you need a mount or want to get started in the electronic age...this is a great way to do it. You can even use it for your song lists. Really a nice tool. Check it out below or click here

OFF Topic Post on Mid Life

Off Topic Post About Life:

I did it! I've aged. At the prime of my life and I feel great. 54 years young is the perfect age. I'm experienced enough to negotiate some of life's curve balls but wise enough to seek help when I need it. And did I  ever need it. For the first time in my life I'm able to start to feel. Yes, feel. I was raised in the classic 50's-60's household where my father was a great provider but emotionally unavailable. A complete emotional midget. His motto was Be a man. Never cry. Get a job. Retire.

Well, I wanted to find something better. I knew there was more to life than that drudgery. I had a passion for music, so I decided to pursue music, forget the college, forget the 8-5 job! Although as I approached my 50's I was happy I was a decent musician, financially I was broke and unsatisfied. What to do?! How come I wasn't able to "make it" in my chosen field? Yes circumstances had a lot to do with it. Sometimes one just has to be in the right place at the right time. But, I had a gnawing feeling that other factors came into play too. I felt I had more to offer the world, more passion and get out but some sort of self loathing or fear was holding me back. That's when I started meditating and going to therapy in earnest. Not to find out someone else's idea of who I should be but to find out for myself what I want to be and how I can walk in this  world facing my fears instead of letting them bury me.

As I dug deep and deeper I found that much of my fear of releasing my passion in and to the world stemmed from my inability to feel my emotions. My fear of pain. Past pains. Locked up shame and the general feeling of not being "good enough". As I explore these painful feelings further I find out, no matter how painful it can be to feel, feelings are essential to being a whole functioning person in this world. The brain and body must to be connected. This helps you become a person with eyes wide open, observing reality. The ability to do this enables much more choice and joy in life. I also find, the deeper I'm able to feel the more open I become in my relationships with people. There's even a difference in the way people respond to me and the way I respond to them.

Choosing an alternative path was my way of seeking a deeply satisfying life. Well, it took until my 50's do start the real work! But at least I'm not waiting until it's too late. This is an ongoing journey for me that has recently started. I'll post about this as it moves forward. Until then keep on meditating,  face yourself and your emotions and the world will open up for you.

Aging and Skin Care

Your skin changes with age. It becomes thinner, loses fat, and no longer looks as plump and smooth as it once did. Your veins and bones can be seen more easily. Scratches, cuts, or bumps can take longer to heal. Sun tanning or being out in the sunlight for a long time may lead to wrinkles, dryness, age spots, and skin cancer. But, there are things you can do to protect your skin and to make it feel and look better. Dry Skin and Itching Many older people suffer from dry spots on their skin, often on their lower legs, elbows, and lower arms. Dry skin patches feel rough and scaly. There are many possible reasons for dry skin, such as: Not drinking enough liquids Spending too much time in the sun or sun tanning Being in very dry air Smoking Feeling stress Losing sweat and oil glands, which is common with age Taking hot baths can make dry skin worse.

There are many possible reasons for dry skin, such as: Not drinking enough liquids Spending too much time in the sun or sun tanning Being in very dry air Smoking Feeling stress Losing sweat and oil glands, which is common with age Dry skin also can be caused by health problems, such as diabetes or kidney disease. Using too much soap, antiperspirant, or perfume, and taking hot baths can make dry skin worse. Some medicines can make skin itchy. Because older people have thinner skin, scratching can cause bleeding that may lead to infection. Talk to your doctor if your skin is very dry and itchy. Here are some ways to help dry, itchy skin: Use moisturizers, like lotions, creams, or ointments, every day. Take fewer baths and use milder soap. Warm water is less drying than hot water. Don’t add bath oil to your water. It can make the tub too slippery. Try using a humidifier, an appliance that adds moisture to a room. Bruises Older people may bruise more easily than younger people. It can take longer for these bruises to heal. Some medicines or illnesses may also cause bruising. Talk to your doctor if you see bruises and don’t know how you got them, especially on parts of your body usually covered by clothing. Wrinkles Over time, skin begins to wrinkle. Things in the environment, like ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun, can make the skin less elastic. Gravity can cause skin to sag and wrinkle. Certain habits, like smoking, also can wrinkle the skin. A lot of claims are made about how to make wrinkles go away. Many of them don’t work. Some methods can be painful or even dangerous, and many must be done by a doctor. Talk with a doctor specially trained in skin problems, called a dermatologist, or your regular doctor if you are worried about wrinkles.
